Jan Olieslagers (een bijnaam, gekozen vanuit mijn vliegerijpassie), bouwjaar 1954. In het Antwerpse begonnen, na enige omzwervingen in Vlaams-Brabant beland. Free-lance IT'er, amateurmuzikant, beginneling-piloot (recreatief). Vooral belangstelling voor het gebruik van OSM-data in een zelfgeschreven GPS-applicatie in het vliegtuig. Ik vlieg met een eigen ULM, de OO-G86.

Om te mappen gebruik ik totnogtoe (April 2010) enkel Potlatch. Mijn traces maak ik met mijn zelfgeschreven GPS-applicatie, deze draait op een Acer netbook (waarvan ik niet supertevreden ben) met externe GPS-ontvanger HiCom 204. Deze schrijft logs in een simpel tekstformaat, waaruit ik met een scriptje .gpx-bestanden fabriceer.

Anno 2016 ben ik vooral bezig met het mappen van "luchtvaartterreinen" oftewel aerodromes over heel Europa; daarbij streef ik naar overeenstemming tussen de vele bronnen van informatie terzake.

Discussion regarding aeroway=runway

Hello, sorry, I'm not an expert in wiki discussions and where and how to start them, please excuse me.

Regarding your revert of the wiki: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:aeroway%3Drunway&diff=next&oldid=2714462

I don't understand the need to remove/revert my point of attention for other OSM editors that this tag is also to consider in some cases. Wether it's an alternative to runway or aerdrome, that's debatable. As an airstrip sates it's a name for runway. But even if it is an alternative to aerodrome, I don't see any harm in putting: see also: airstrip. Do you?

But you did not add a "see also". You added a suggestion that "aeroway=airstrip" could be an alternative tag for a runway, this is however not the case. Whence my reversal. It must be said however that this is one of the rare cases of deviation from the basic principle of "one feature on the ground, one entry in OSM": the typical airstrip is a minimal aerodrome (entry one), consisting of nothing more than a runway (entry two). The reason is that a runway can not be a destination in a route planner, whereas an aerodrome or airstrip can. Kindly! Jan olieslagers (talk) 19:35, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
